El-KabEl-Kab on the eastern bank of the Nile was the center of the cult of the vulture-goddess Nekhbet, although her title "Lady of Nekhen" made her, in name, the goddess of the Early Dynastic Period capital of Hierakonpolis just across the river. During the New Kingdom, El-Kab was more important than her ancient sister city. |
