Aziru of AmurruAziru was a prince of Amurru, in the coastal plain of Syria. His father, Abdi-Ashirta, was assassinated by Egyptian troops, but Aziru proved to be equally as unscrupulous as his predecessor, and his schemings eventually forced the Egyptian governor at the key city of Sumura to abandon his post and return to Egypt. He was mentioned in the Amarna letters by Abimilki of Tyre. |
